David taught modern languages and was housemaster at a special needs school before founding Temper Domestic Violence. He trained in co-counselling and couples counselling and set the charity up in 1994 after attending a domestic violence conference where a speaker asserted that violent men are all the same and cannot change.
Denise has delivered the Temper programme with David for 25 years. She is a couples counsellor, psycho-sexual therapist, family therapist and supervisor working in private practice. Denise is an accredited member of the BACP and a registered supervisor of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists.

She is passionately committed to practising, researching and teaching philosophy and methods that recognise a real human relationship as the crucible and the vehicle for positive change. She is author of Anger, Rage and Relationship: An Empathic Approach to Anger Management (2008, Routledge) and teaches counsellors and psychotherapists internationally about working with these issues in particular. Sue is a Certified Transactional Analyst and has an MSc in Counselling Training and Supervision. She is UKCP registered, with a senior accredited membership of the BACP.
